So I had finally figured out that Faux was a Maine Coon when I started reading about Norwegian cats. Uh oh. Now I'm confused.

Loves the out of doors. Faux loves it outside. The only time she wants in is in cold weather. Does NOT adapt to cold weather.
The scogkatts, as they are referred to in Norway, accompanied the vikings on their travels. These cats have adapted to very cold weather. They are prone to polycystic kidney disease.
So what do you think? Is Faux a Maine Coon mix or a Weggie mix?

When I lived in Japan (over a decade ago), we adopted a Maine Coon who had traveled abroad with another military family and they couldn't keep him due to their child's allergies. His name was Indy and he was awesome!
He was a gecko eating machine (bad lizards) and he even warned me when we were about to have an earthquake. Thank goodness ours was very minor!
Love this breed of cat. Very hungry cat, though! LOL
It's fun to guess a pet's ancestry, but it's kinda like lining up all red-heads and guessing which is Irish and which is Scottish. From experience I've learned some red-heads are Russian. When I worked in the shelter I soon learned everything was call a Shepard-lab mix for a reason. (Although I became very adept at identifying Blue Tick and Red Bone Coon Hounds.) Luckily cats and dogs don't seem to care one way or another.
If you can't decide, call Faux one of the proto-types for the development of the breed.
Lord -- 20#s? That's a lot of weight landing on your back in the middle of the night.
Oh my, reading this and seeing how it fits Missy Kitty to a tee is awesome. But, she hates the cold and won't go outside until the snow is gone lol. She's told me that in no uncertain terms.
So maybe, the Vikings brought the Weegies to Maine :)
OMGosh, I just went and looked up Skogkatt and it was like looking at my cat. I think I just found her ancestors or maybe her true breed. How exciting.

I hope you can see Missy Kitty's photo.
Not Norwegian Forest, we have one. I'd say a Maine Coon mix. Once you see a Norwegian Forest cat, you can't mistake them. They are quite distinctive. I think your cat is gorgeous!
I would imagine both breeds had some common ancestor.
Hi Kerri, Letting you know about the earthquake, isn't that cool?
Hey Julia, I was looking at pics of the Nor. shorter hairs and the long hairs and then the Maine Coon shorter and longer hairs, its really amazing the simularities. But I think you're right. I think she's Maine Coone
Jewel, Missy Skogkatt is gorgeous:)
Rhobin, Yup its always a crap shoot. One rescuer thinks its one breed and another rescuer another. And usually goes with which is most popular:)
