What does travel mean to you? Sometimes I just want to stay at home and get book promotion and home organization underway. Travel prevents that whether it is near (a day trip) or far away.
Don't misunderstand. I love to travel. If it's to somewhere far away, I don't enjoy the time squandered getting ready for the trip. It takes a lot of time to find the best rates for airplanes and for rental cars.
But I do enjoy long trips to faraway. When I was a child, I would dream about visiting the places I read about in books.
One of my favorite destinations is to Hawaii. It's a place you need at least two weeks away from home to make the long trip worthwhile. The crowded Waikiki Beach was a big disappointment, but I enjoyed the Polynesian Cultural Center, also on the island of Oahu. Kauai is my favorite Hawaiian island because of the glorious natural beauty. The island even has its own Grand Canyon and countless waterfalls.
Paris is another favorite destination of mine. What artist wouldn't long to visit the Louvre Museum? On our last visit there, the Louvre was closed due to a strike. The super fast railroad system was down for the same reason, so even with intense planning things can change. You can be disappointed, but in Paris there are always small museums, art galleries, quaint restaurants, and much more.
Now that I've started remembering, I'm going to put Paris at the top of my list for places I most want to revisit.
What place is at the top of your list?
Monti

In this heat wave - I vote for Antarctica!
My number one vacation spot is home, but I would like to visit Rome, Paris, and the Hermitage in St. Pertersburg.
I want to go to Hawaii, Seattle and Ireland.
Ashantay, I wonder if even Antarctica has been touched by this heatwave. Colorado never needed air conditioning before. Now it does.
Home can be a wonderful vacation spot. I love it as well. I've never been to Russia, and it's not on my list. Our daughter, Amy, spent five months in Moscow and in Siberia several years ago. I was soooo glad when she got back home!
Sanda, Seattle is such a neat place. I love seeing the spectacular mountain in the distance from the streets.
Stonehenge...
The British Isles, and thanks for a lovely post.
I like 'home', which is Scotland, the rest of my list is so long... Canada, Autralia, parts of the States,, Italy, I could go on!
