Shifters or Wings?

Shifters or Wings?

I’ve been asking myself this question often recently. I just released my first book in a new series called Dust of My Wings. Yep, Wings. Meaning I’m writing about angels this time. Though my first series was all about shifters. It’s odd to change it up and see what you can do as an author. Dust of My Wings is the first book in the Dante’s Circle series where I’m not just taking on angels, but dragons, shifters, Fae and more.
But what do readers want?
That I’m not sure. I think there is a HUGE basis for shifters and wolves right now. Personally, I’m in love with them. Hence why I write them. I think sometimes it’s tougher to show off a new type of paranormal creature to readers. Some of them LOVE it, some are hesitant.
When you write contemporary, the storylines aren’t based on species so there is a whole new idea of what is good for readers or not. But with paranormal, we have to add on to the normal what-ifs with species, powers, and new worlds.
What do readers want? Well that’s the age old question, isn’t it? So far, I think that angels and other paranormals are a little harder to sell right away, but they’re coming. I love reading about all paranormal, and I hope other readers are too.

In theory...if the story's good "they" will buy. Sometimes this is true and sometimes you just can't sell the story for anything. I say write what your heart tells you to write.

I agree with Anny. Write what you love, good selling genre or bad, someone also loves it.

I find books on angels fascinating.
